Low Tide, Provincetown by Barby Almy

I took this phot while walking the beach in Provincetown Harbor at low tide. The small snail-like critters inside the bigger clam shell were just like they appear when I took the photo. I didn’t touch it until after I took the picture. When I picked up the clam shell afterwards, I was amazed to see that all those littler snails were “glued” together by their own suctioning mechanisms. They did not move and were obviously very alive and clinging to each other for…well, for survival, maybe. Who knows?
